Family Programs

Family Camps are community retreats in the redwoods which cultivate self-awareness, connection to nature, and strong bonds. The Camps are a platform for YES’s youth and adults to practice their leadership amongst their families and community.

Family Camp

At Family Camp, parents/caregivers and their children build cross-generational and peer-group relationships, become inspired to engage in their communities, and connect with the solace, joy, adventure, fun, and opportunities for growth that nature provides.

Weekend Family Camps take place in coastal redwoods, approximately 2 hours from Richmond, and are conducted in both English and Spanish by YES staff and volunteers.

Resident Leadership Retreat

Each year, YES hosts a Resident Leadership Retreat Family Camp alongside our partners from the Healthy Richmond collaborative.

The retreat honors emerging leaders from the Richmond community who are working together for positive change. These leaders come together with their families to explore issues of race equity with expert facilitators. Participants reap the benefits of time spent in nature and in community, and come away with skills and tools that support their ongoing community work.
