Cynthia Sharpe: Finding An Emotional Home at YES

When Cynthia Sharpe accepted a friend’s invitation to come along to a fundraiser for YES in 2019, she figured she’d have an enjoyable evening of dinner, dancing, and learn a little about a local nonprofit. What she didn’t count on was finding an “emotional home:” a feeling of deep resonance with the people, the cause, and the ethos of YES. She found it almost immediately as she struck up a conversation with a YES board member and marveled at the courage that young YES participants embodied as they stepped on stage to speak.

This feeling of “home” and a personal commitment to courageous action is what drew Cynthia to get more involved with YES both as a donor and volunteer, guiding YES’s progress towards a new Base Camp as a member of our Capital Campaign Leadership Committee.  At YES’s recent house party, Cynthia shared her and her husband’s deep commitment to the campaign, and she encouraged others to dig deep as well.

“Through my work with YES, I am participating in creating the kind of world I want to see. A world where everyone has the opportunity to experience the healing powers of nature, learn about themselves, and become engaged community members.”

Thank you, Cynthia, for your leadership and your generosity!
