The success of YES programs depends on dedicated, caring individuals who donate their skills, abilities, and time to make Richmond a better place to live for our families.
Volunteers may help out in the following ways:
Fundraising Events YES works hard to raise our profile in the community and secure needed funds from donors through our annual dinner in June, year-end campaign letter, and related fundraising events. Volunteers help perform a variety of functions including outreach to sponsors, addressing envelopes, making phone calls, securing silent auction items, and other related tasks.
Family Camp Weekends* At each camp, 20 - 25 volunteers work with families and serve as their guides, supporters, and play partners throughout the weekend. This gratifying opportunity allows one to connect with participants and meet other volunteers while sharing in the beauty of nature. Preference is given to those people who have experience working with low-income families and/or youth. Spanish-speaking is a plus.
Office Support As a small staff, YES counts on volunteers to help out with needs that relate to both programming and infrastructure. Among them include data entry, follow-up surveys and evaluation, website assistance, graphic design, and marketing outreach.

*Please note that Family Camp volunteer positions and those that involve direct service work with participants require a mandatory background check.
