YES relies on strong partnerships to provide the experiences and skills essential for our youth and adult participants to grow into leaders. Here are a few of the camp partners and community organizations with whom we partner:
CYO Summer Camp Located on 220 acres of coastal redwood forest near the town of Occidental in Sonoma County, CYO has been running playful, fun-filled, and challenging summer camp experiences since 1946. Campers enjoy swimming, archery, canoeing, hikes, basketball, arts and crafts, and much more. CYO is a place where children can discover self-worth, develop relational skills, and appreciate their natural environment.
YMCA Camp Jones Gulch Camp Jones Gulch sits on 927 acres of redwood forest land at the northern edge of the Santa Cruz Mountains. It’s large, beautiful facility hosts hundreds of children each summer from diverse backgrounds. The camp focuses on values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility in every aspect of camp. Counselors encourage kids to try new things and learn new skills through entertaining activities such as arts and crafts, climbing, zip-lining, archery, swimming, hiking, canoeing, mountain biking, horseback riding, dance, and drama.
St. Dorothy's Rest Located next door to camp CYO in Camp Meeker, St. Dorothy's Rest provides an intimate camp setting in the redwoods where making friends and having fun comes naturally. Campers stay in one of two beautiful lodges, eat fabulous meals, and participate in activities such as arts and crafts, swimming, woodworking, drama, and indoor and outdoor games. This week-long camp is highlighted by a 12-mile hiking trip from the camp to the ocean.
YMCA Camp Loma Mar Located in a beautiful redwood forest between Santa Cruz and Half Moon Bay Loma Mar provides a natural setting of open spaces, recreation fields and majestic redwoods along Pescadero Creek. There are hiking trails, a swimming pool, a zip-line, arts and crafts, basketball and volleyball courts, a climbing wall, and creek walks. Loma Mar is a YMCA camp and has been in existence since 1914 and has been the site of YES Family Camps since 2004.
OVY Camp Located near Loma Mar and Jones Gulch, is a nonprofit organization that provides youth with a safe, enjoyable, and educational summer camp experience; while offering character building opportunities and promoting service, volunteerism, and leadership within the community.
East Bay Regional Park District EBRPD is a system of 65 beautiful parklands and trails in Contra Costa and Alameda counties and includes ideal spots for healthful recreation and environmental education. EBRPD partners with YES to provide overnight camping trips and day outings for YES families, as well as monthly excursions for C2C youth and the annual Walk to Nature event at Miller Knox Regional Park in Point Richmond.
Outward Bound California For over 50 years Outward Bound California has been changing lives through challenge and discovery. The center of Outward Bound’s educational philosophy is the belief that for young people to succeed, they need character growth and skills to assume leadership roles and take positive approaches to life’s challenges. Outward Bound partners with YES to provide immersive wilderness and life skill building experiences for C2C youth.
